Roan Cole Heichelbech

Sorry for the delay. We had a tot with bronchitis. Tired couple of weeks. All well now.

Our little bean arrived on 3/14/12, 7lbs 4oz and 20 1/2 inches long. He made quite the entrance. Water broke at midnight, hospital by 1:20, born at 3:04 a.m. My Doctor barely made it out of a surgery and into my delivery room. It was crazy! Took us several hours to name him. We had a couple of choices and we ended up with Roan (Ro-an) because his skin was so red for so long. He had red cheeks for hours and when he cried his little legs turned red. Roan means 'little red one' so we felt like it suited him well.

He's a good little boy and his sister LOVES him! She still calls her brother bean and also little buddy. :) So cute! Some pics Klint and I took this past weekend...

and Rory Elizabeth stole the show of course...

Total show off! Loving life and this awesome weather!

Little pieces

Kiddos room coming together. Still so much to do and cannot fully be done until basement is ready for toys and such. But will share a few things I've thrown in their sweet tiny space...

Yep, changed my mind on Rory's bedding (what's new and the other was dry clean only. NOoooo thx)

Pretty ivory ruffles for a very girly girl

pink for the lady
grey for the boy
Framed the prints up. Added the dresser (the finish is still not done, but it looks good the way it is for now).
wood bins

touch of blue
little pattern
some fur

Some blue, some grey, some pink, lots of naturals. An old leather suitcase for storage. Gold vintage mirror. Velvet curtains. More later....will share pics when we're able to finish.

plush blanket

Basement first, then I can make some progress. 'Bean' will sleep in his bassinet for a bit anyways. Surprisingly, I'm not in panic mode. We make do with our little bungalow and Rory is very excited to share her space. AND.... baby boy has arrived!!! I wrote this last week to post on Wednesday but baby came in the middle of the night, finally home on Friday, but then sick husband, another disaster in the house (what's new) and now sick Rory. :(  Will share more soon! For now, we all need rest.

So....

Sorry so m.i.a. Been nesting, yoga, working to get ahead, cleaning, busy, busy, busy. Tired. Any day now. Come on bean! This lil' one is comfy I guess.

Rory has been helping Daddy in the basement and playing outside in this crazy early spring weather. Moving along. Basement ready, baby ready... soonish...

Rory helping Daddy drywall...in her tutu of course!

Keep you posted!

Top Bebe Stuff

This boy is coming soon. March 20th is go time, but he may just be a leap year baby. Dr visit yesterday, dilated already. Yikes! We'll see. I'm not ready, so much to do. Work was so busy that I am behind at home. Now that I have had a bit of a breather the last couple of days I can finish nesting. (While my husband works on basement...no, no way it will be done, but BIG progress).

Most of the baby gear is out and ready, bedroom almost together. Will post pics soon. Dresser still in the works. You see, I always have trouble making up my mind. This child will probably not have a name for two days!

What are your favorite baby items!??  Must haves for me thus far....hmmm, wonder if it will change with second babe?

Dr Brown      Moby      Aveeno      aden+anais      LilyPadz      Corona

Dr Brown glass bottles worked the best for us. We'll see what this baby likes. Sticking to glass though.

The Moby Wrap is comfy. Excited to wear again, but am trying the Bjorn as well. Didn't have one before.

Rory broke out with everything except Aveeno. I tried all organic and unscented products. Aveeno was best for her. We'll see what works, but holding out on Aveeno for now.

aden + anais swaddles are amazing.  If you don't have, must get. Love love love them! Soft, big, light, perfect. Rory still uses hers for herself and her babies. They wash well and last forever.

LilyPadz prevent leakage. Enough said.

Corona Ointment has been used in my fam for years. Ok, this one is weird, but it works. It's used on horses. Yes, I know, but it's the best product for a sore tush. Tried all butt products and came back to the good old animal salve.

Have any faves? Share with me. Making a list of things I need to grab yet. Time snuck up on me....running out of it!!!!

Happy Happy

Happy Halloween! Rory says, "I'm a Princess Indian!!" She is so excited to trick or treat with her friends tonight!

Indian Princess
Also, Happy Baby Reveal to us! Klint's birthday was Friday so I decided to surprise him with a cake last minute. More so because I ran out of time to make the pumpkin pie I had promised him AND because I just couldn't wait till Xmas to find out the sex of this baby. Also, I thought it'd be nice to do this surprise with just the three of us on Klint's special day. (Thx for the idea LLL; totally ripped it off!) He sent me a text that morning asking me, "Do you think it's a girl?" So I got the itch and just ran to Rene's Bakery and asked if they'd do a baby/birthday cake for us! They were so kind, took my enveloped ultrasound pic and made me a quick little sweet cake (this is why I love them and their croissants SO SO much).

Klint and I were both really nervous, anxious, whatever you want to call it. ;) Rory just wanted to eat cake! We all made our guesses and this is how it turned out:

Rory thinks baby's in her belly, ha! Needless to say, we were a little shocked. I think we were both thinking the other way around would be easier on us, but we can take this on! Rory still may not totally get it, but she definitely enjoyed the cake...

My husband loves having his sweet little girl, but I think he'll be a very proud pops to a boy! We're excited!

Should make things interesting. Now to plan a room that characterizes both boy and girl stuff! Oh, and to collect on all things boy.
