Playhouse Party

DIY playhouse going up. I'll take more pics and keep you updated as the hubs has time to build. Following this little plan for inspiration. We have a narrow space so we have to improvise and change it up a bit. Super excited for my kiddos to have a little place to hang. We are putting in a bottom floor and top floor. Bottom floor is in! (Follow my Instagram for quicker updates).

Editing

So, I traded in my old camera for a used camera in the model I wanted. I also switched from Nikon to Canon and swapped out my lenses. BEST decision ever! I love my new camera and lens. Now on the search for my second lens.

You ever wonder why it costs so much to get good photography? Because editing and downloading and sifting through pics takes FOREVER! ;) Especially if you're me and take 1000 pics at a time. Though, if you get your light right and your people right you won't have to edit much...which is my goal. I fell in love with the camera in the dark room. So getting it all right up front was so important!

A few shots I just downloaded. #unfiltered and #unedited. I will edit a bit, but I was thrilled with my new lens results. Look at these sweet faces.

I mean, come on. Cute kids!

Sunday Funday

Took a little time this past weekend to do a little bit of nothing! Picture taking, cousin time, some Frozen, outside playing, grilling... and just now finding time to post this little gem.

Cuties.

And right now it's 71 degrees and we're going to do more of this! Could it be? Is it Spring? Finally!

Weekend follow-up

Choo Choo, Roan turns 2! We had spring for a day and it was awesome! Apparently pictures stopped after cake! We HAD to get some sunshine! Outside, kids playing, beer drinking, shoes off...

And now we wait for it to show up again. Look how happy my birthday boy was. I LOVE this age. Reminds me of Rory way back when. So fun! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

p.s. I tried this cake recipe and it turned out pretty tasty!

2 baby

This guy is 2 years old tomorrow. Sigh. Where did the time go? He's a handful. He's funny. Sweet as ever. Stubborn as ever. Cute as ever. He is much quieter and pickier than his sister, but he's coming along. New word this week: "yuck!" :)

Even though I cannot believe he is 2, it seems as if he's been around forever. Our little arrived on Pi Day a lifetime ago. (Does this mean he's going to be brilliant? I think so!)

Here's to a weekend of celebrating my baby and St. Patrick's Day! Roan is an Irish name ya know! xoxoxoxo

Kid Space

Want to amp up our playroom and make it more fun. This rug is in there now which is my inspiration. Walls are cream, floor is dark grey carpet (basement berber). Plan mode...kids will love the teepee, pillows and bean bag...

Rug (have)
Shelves (have)
Teepee (I think this would make a fun xmas gift)
Sherpa (xmas!)
Ikat Pillow
Floor pillows
Turquoise pouf
Black pouf (similar one)
wire baskets (have similar ones)
Colorful art
Owl art
Print (will make)

And I'd love to hang their paintings and drawings all over the place! Little artists make me smile.

Hey, Play Time!

Play room ideas. I'm swimming in them, but trying to work around what we have for awhile. It's super fun to plan for though.  Check out these cool things.

I LOVE this tent. Come on, we need a tent! That light is playful too.

This is colorful! I dig the poufs. Moroccan is sort of my thing lately. I adore!

Cushions! Read, nap, play...super sweet!

I get super tired of cleaning and organizing and doing laundry. I just want to play with my kids. Having a playroom is SO awesome! I love having a space for them. And a bonus is that I can close the door and not see the mess. Perfect. Although, I will admit, I do like to organize the mess often. When did I become such a control freak!? sigh. Learn to let it go. Let them be kids, I know. Rory will clean after herself if asked to though. Throw it in a basket/drawer/closet and it's clean. Out of sight, can't be seen. I do the same thing, so I'm not really that obsessive-compulsive. I thought living in a bigger home with more space for stuff would help. Nope! Let's be honest, kids don't stay in there and they bring toys with them wherever they go. Even with a playroom, toys end up in very strange places. I cannot tell you which floor that sparkly barbie shoe is on and my son definitely had one in his mouth the other day. I probably threw it away or stuck it in a kitchen drawer after freaking out that Roan had it; and then stress a week later when I can't find it for my demanding 3 year old! Note to self, after the 6th birthday party we stick to college funds maybe...or perhaps just keep adding interesting books to the shelf. I can manage those.

But come on, who doesn't want a kickass playroom and fun things for their kid? How flipping cool are these?

Maybe if the space is that awesome kids won't leave them? hmmm...

Outlook is good

HUGE slacker here, I know. I've been so busy with, whatta u call it? LIFE. Small town is busy, man. Happenings around here! Rory's been going to dance class, she probably grew an inch, she's eating like a horse and not sleeping well, Roan's been sick, he unpleasantly received three new teeth, has had two ear infections, has slept through the night twice in 10 months (yes, we are f***ing tired), did lots of baking, saw my brother, went to Nashville, got snow, went sledding, attended 101 holiday parties, Finn got hit by a car (he's OK), drank lots of homemade Kahlua, I turned older, had friends come in for a fun visit, made time for a girls gathering, finally figured out the fireplace, did nothing New Years Eve, slept a ten hour night thanks to my parents, daddy and Roan hiked, Rory and mommy shopped, preschool visits AND now...work, work, work. Did you get that?

I have nothing new to add other than I cannot wait to get our new couch (Merry Christmas to us). It's been awhile since I ordered it. Ready to have a living room. List of stuff that needs to be done in the new house? It's long, but we're tired. I'm tired. Coffee is really a special thing lately. Here is a small snapshot of life this past month and a half...

Our cozy fire
Our little hiker
Our sweet baker

Our first xmas at our new home
Can't go wrong there. Was a pretty good year, people! Ready for 2013. A couple of fun things planned. Stay tuned.

Momma's Day

8 weeks and counting...I get 12 weeks of maternity leave. It's flying by. I'm so thankful to get all this time with my bebe. Work is overrated. :) Love being home with my littles. Yeah, some day it's hard as hell, some days I can only handle one kid at home; I have zero time for anything, but Roan is growing fast and starting to get on somewhat of a schedule. We're getting there. And when they're sweet, it's so extra awesome! Granted, there are moments I could pull my hair out. Stay at home moms have the hardest and most rewarding job ever!

If I was fortunate enough to stay home I'd probably become a shopaholic! I've seen so many great things while browsing through catalogues in between feedings & laundry, running by stores and eye balling colorful threads on my 'one hour' errands when alone. Glad my body isn't quite back yet. Well, not glad, but you know...a new piece of something always makes you feel better. I'd have spent my credit limit in the five minute browsing trips! Great stuff this season!

I made it into Anthropologie the other week. It was perfect, Roan was asleep in the stroller, Rory was at daycare, I had one hour to shop. I grabbed several cute things and lots of sale items to try on. The second I got into the dressing room my little man started screaming. :( ready to eat...again, really, you just ate? I had no time to indulge. sigh. I'm not one of those people that can buy without trying on.

Mom's day is coming... how cute are the goodies below? As much as I wanted to try on those clothes, some colorful jewelry would feel good too! I should have checked it out while I was at the store.

These days, new stuff AND actually old stuff is like gold. I cannot even find my summer shoes. Basement remodel, moving rooms around, tiny little closets, I have things stuffed in corners, in the garage, in bins, under beds...the joy of bungalow living. :) I need a month and a shopping spree to reorganize my wardrobe. Creating extra space and $ for a new little bean is well worth it though. Love being a mom :)

Happy Mother's Day week!!!

Roan Cole Heichelbech

Sorry for the delay. We had a tot with bronchitis. Tired couple of weeks. All well now.

Our little bean arrived on 3/14/12, 7lbs 4oz and 20 1/2 inches long. He made quite the entrance. Water broke at midnight, hospital by 1:20, born at 3:04 a.m. My Doctor barely made it out of a surgery and into my delivery room. It was crazy! Took us several hours to name him. We had a couple of choices and we ended up with Roan (Ro-an) because his skin was so red for so long. He had red cheeks for hours and when he cried his little legs turned red. Roan means 'little red one' so we felt like it suited him well.

He's a good little boy and his sister LOVES him! She still calls her brother bean and also little buddy. :) So cute! Some pics Klint and I took this past weekend...

and Rory Elizabeth stole the show of course...

Total show off! Loving life and this awesome weather!

Little pieces

Kiddos room coming together. Still so much to do and cannot fully be done until basement is ready for toys and such. But will share a few things I've thrown in their sweet tiny space...

Yep, changed my mind on Rory's bedding (what's new and the other was dry clean only. NOoooo thx)

Pretty ivory ruffles for a very girly girl

pink for the lady
grey for the boy
Framed the prints up. Added the dresser (the finish is still not done, but it looks good the way it is for now).
wood bins

touch of blue
little pattern
some fur

Some blue, some grey, some pink, lots of naturals. An old leather suitcase for storage. Gold vintage mirror. Velvet curtains. More later....will share pics when we're able to finish.

plush blanket

Basement first, then I can make some progress. 'Bean' will sleep in his bassinet for a bit anyways. Surprisingly, I'm not in panic mode. We make do with our little bungalow and Rory is very excited to share her space. AND.... baby boy has arrived!!! I wrote this last week to post on Wednesday but baby came in the middle of the night, finally home on Friday, but then sick husband, another disaster in the house (what's new) and now sick Rory. :(  Will share more soon! For now, we all need rest.

slow

Yes, I'm way behind on posts and recovering from Turkey Break. Also, catching up at work, trying to settle back into routine and mourning the loss of a dear old friend. This week will be tough. More to come, but for now... a little sweetness. Everyone could use a smile.

Look how much Rory loves her cousin! :) Cute bebes! I think she is ready for a brother... and possibly a John Deere?

Priceless

Anthro Kiddos

LOVE when Anthro breaks into holiday mode this time of the year! The store is all decked out, the ample amount of gift giving stuff and of course, the small selection of mini clothes and toys/books. Just got my new catalog...check it peeps! I'm dying to shop for myself (see new arrivals), but will keep my spending focus on kids and gifts for the next couple of months. Such unique, cute things to look at...
Owl Hat
This skirt is adorable!
Twisty Tulle Bubble Skirt
And this coat!!!! Color is perfect!
Little Plume Coat

A mini apron for cookie baking!?!! Great gift idea ...Or the alphabets?!  So colorful and fun!

They used to have more boy stuff. :(  Though, I guess the Owl hat could be cute on both girl and boy.
p.s. If you wait a bit, the clothes go on sale. Yes, yes they do!
