Santa is scary

We took Rory to Christmas on the Farm at Trader's Point Creamery last weekend. (Sorry for the late post, are you as busy as we are)? What an enjoyable time with some of my girlfriends the year before so I was excited to go with my lil' family. We love hanging out there throughout the year for the atmosphere and food; and the trees, hills and farm bring us close to childhood memories. Family trip, hot chocolate, Santa, real reindeer and a sleigh-hayride! Can it get any better than that? Well, it was just okay this round. Very crowded, hot food was cold, line for Santa was WAY long, had to fight said line to get to kid crafts, 30 minute wait for tractor ride, no reindeer this year, Rory hated Santa and she was terrified of the cows. Guess she's a city girl at heart. However, we did devour the hot chocolate and the atmosphere was awesome as usual so a good day in all. TPC, bring back the reindeer next year! The Elk didn't really give me that Christmasy feeling.

And no, I do not have a picture of Rory sitting on Santa's lap screaming her head off. Apologies to those of you that do that, but we don't want to scar her or give Santa a heart attack...she has some serious lungs. ;) We skipped over him and told her he's nice and jolly and if she's good he'll bring surprises at Christmas. Rory says, "I don't want Santa at my house!" Oh well. We'll try again next year. She loves to bake, so I'm thinking if we make Santa some fun cookies she may think he's less scary? We'll see.

Happy Holidays! I cannot believe xmas is less than ten days away! Work is mad busy, not quite done shopping or wrapping, need to prepare to leave town once again and have to bake those cookies so Santa can come to our house. You'll hear from me later...xo

Yes, I'm way behind on posts and recovering from Turkey Break. Also, catching up at work, trying to settle back into routine and mourning the loss of a dear old friend. This week will be tough. More to come, but for now... a little sweetness. Everyone could use a smile.

Rewind

Flew to San Francisco for an extra long weekend. One of my bestest gals got married!!! Three weddings in SF in one year! That's a record. Four CA trips in one year, I think I may sit next year out. I'm tired. Jet lag is an understatement. I felt unrested the entire trip, I couldn't even muster up energy to shop. We browsed which was nice. I drooled mostly over furniture. Clothes, saw good stuff, but wasn't eager to buy. Maybe I just missed my girl at home too much!

Was great to see old pals and my cousins, meet new peeps and experience the beautiful city once again. I think we hit every single neighborhood this trip, wedding, 80's party, several bars, hung out at the park, went to the coast, ate a lot, drank a lot  watched people drink a lot and finally got my husband to a Giant's game. He's been a long time fan and we missed games last fall by hours. Too bad I didn't take too many pics of our 80's gear. I went for the total nerd look. Awesome!

Saw this sofa while wondering around Hayes Valley. Want it or something like! My husband responds, "we need to get that couch when we no longer have pets in our home." :( that wasn't a very nice thing to say, but he's right...dog and cat would sneak up on there often. booo

Popped in Azalea Boutique as well. Ahhh, cool stuff. Saw a few things. Too expensive for my current budget, but adored enough to remember...

Much to catch up on. Especially blog reading. Did find time to see this post yesterday on Design Mom. Maternity clothing, ugh, I hated looking at them last pregnancy...I bought one pair of jeans, linen pants and a shirt, that's it. I was able to fit into summer maxi dresses and put my stretchy clothes to good use. Winter though, I have nothing! Asos has some cute stuff. We have yet another wedding coming up. I'm so thankful it's close to home...just a drive up the street. Loving this black beauty. Wondering how big my belly will be in November?? This is on sale!

I'm thinking about it... shoot me a message if you know where to find some good belly clothing! I may just have to add two more pieces to my maternity wardrobe this year. ;)

Fair Bound

I was excited to share our visit to the Indiana State Fair Friday evening, but after the tragic accident Saturday it's so hard to blabber about our good time. Thoughts of peace go out to the families that lost loved ones and to all that were injured. Klint has a student in the hospital. The teenager will never be the same. Let's hope he gets to go home soon, along with all the others that are still in danger. It was a horrific event that seemed impossible. We were home, several blocks away and the wind was nasty. I'm telling you, I don't think anyone was prepared for it. We were concerned our trees would fall. Our neighborhood was scared for a split second. No sirens went off, so we waited just like everyone else. I cannot imagine what those people were going through at that moment. Our power was out for hours, so we stuck to our phones for information. Facebook is how we heard of the event.

Having worked on stages with my brother at one point in my life put this close to home. I was concerned not only for fans, but for all those crew members too. We have lots of friends that are still in the industry. It takes all day if not longer to prepare for a show. Workers are not careless; I would say that that stage was put up properly...it's their job, hard work that consumes most of their lives. They are grieving too and probably feel so helpless. Indiana weather is not predictable. Ever. We heard and saw it first hand. One minute the radar was clear, the next we thought a tornado was coming. What was supposed to be a fun night turned into total chaos. So sad.

I feel very lucky that our trip to The State Fair was a safe one. Pigs, horses, sheep, goats, cows, lemonade, gyros, ice-cream and games. I will try to remember the fair that way and will never forget the families and friends that were affected this weekend by their trip. Mommy even won a fish for Rory. (Well, two fish, but one left us an hour after we got home). Nemo (#2) is flapping away in a vase in Rory's room. She was so happy and kept saying, "I won, I won!!" And mommy was feeling pretty good too. I NEVER WIN A THING. Needless to say, I didn't think I would win a fish! I used to play that game as a kid...I thought it was hard?! We have a good memory of our trip. Hopefully our Nemo sticks around. When I see him I think of all those happy people before the storm, anxiously awaiting a good show.

Heavy Hearts

I was going to gush more about our wonderful FL vacation today, but I would like to contribute this post to the wonderful friends/family we spent it with instead. Our dear newlywed friends/cousins lost a great man yesterday. We cannot even believe it ourselves. The community has been genuinely touched by John's compassion and he will be so missed. He was an amazing person that brought so much joy to life. We were blessed to have spent time with your beautiful family on such a special occasion last month. Our hearts go out to you during this difficult time.

A sweet trip of much love and laughter will be remembered forever...
So deeply sorry for your loss. Love to you all. Please call if you need anything. Thinking of you.

Wknd Recap

What did we do all weekend? Spent loads of time in the car. We visit family often, but this weekend was crazy. Drove back and forth to each of our parents and then to Indy and back to parents and back to Indy... We had good quality family time though and fit in a few parties and showers and such.

Had a tiny bit of time for pool and friends too. Check out these watermelon cuties! What could be more fun?
